The Bubble Pop Gallery is a pop up art gallery located in Bakersfield, CA. Bubble Pop seeks to bring creatives together by providing pop up shows and opportunities to help foster a fun atmosphere between artists and our community.
Ashleymarie Sey Lively is the founder, creator, and curator, as Bakersfield’s first pop up gallery of its kind.
How It Started
Our Story
It all began back in 2010, when Sey got her taste for gallery curation back in college at CSULB, where she had the opportunity to do a solo or group show. She jumped at the opportunity to do a show called “All Pinned Up” which opened February 14th, 2010. It showcased her fellow peers, featuring artwork inspired by retro culture of the 1950s. Her show was praised as one of the largest attended art events that CSULB had seen at that time. After that, Sey had been dreaming up a gallery that worked with her family life. While she and her husband started their family, she kept working at her art and kept dreaming about one day owning her own gallery.
In 2017, Sey set to make this dream a reality by popping up with shows every First Friday in the heart of downtown Bakersfield. With the help of her husband Kevin Lively along with family and friends, the first shows started in the Historic Fox Theater and eventually grew to popping up further at local restaurant Temblor Brewing Co.
Shows ran consistently every month for three and a half years, and then virtually for a short period. Previously, the gallery focused on shows relating solely to pop culture, but has since bubbled into a pop up gallery with themed events featuring local and out of town artists from all over the world.
The Gallery Today
New look, same dream
Now, The Bubble Pop Gallery is coming back in new fresh ways, finding new venues and opportunities to create an art experience that is fun for the whole family.
Returning this fall, The Bubble Pop Gallery will have a new look, but the same pop up soul!
“The original intention was to create a gallery that could go anywhere, popping up in other small businesses and locations to make a fun pop up event that supports the artists and the community as a whole, and that’s exactly what we are going to do,” says Ashleymarie Sey Lively.

About Sey
Ashleymarie Sey Lively is a full time artist, entrepreneur, and gallery curator. She is the creative behind Sey Studios and The Bubble Pop Gallery. She thrives on creating whimsical and happy art full of bright and illuminating colors. All of her artwork is made with the positive intention of spreading light and love. Sey sells her designs on her own website, at events, conventions, and through other small businesses. She believes in helping build her local art community through art shows, classes, & creative workshops.
Sey is also a wife to Kevin Lively, while a mom of their two beautiful and creative kids. She works out of her home studio, with her two puppies, Luna Belle and Skipper Gizmo.
