Day 24 of Le Fae welcomes the magical mind of Haven Lund!
I am a full time Ranger, part time Maker currently stained in California. Inspired by everything whimsy and witchy, I taught myself the art of stained glass through a lot of trial and error (and bandaids!). I love exploring new mediums, and including crystals and prisms into my stained glass works. The majority of my pieces are celestial and nature inspired as those things are so near to my heart.

MEET THE ARTIST
- Start off and tell us your name! Who are you?
My name is Haven, and I am a part time maker and a full time Ranger. I work for a land preservation agency, and my ‘office’ is a F350 and wherever my hiking boots can take me. Rangers like to say we protect the land from the people, the people from the land, and the people from the people.
- What kind of art do you create and what medium do you work in?
Glass is the most recent mediums that I explored, and it was captivating right from the start. Every bit of the process is magical: dreaming up a pattern, choosing a piece of glass, cutting, grinding, foiling, soldering and polishing. The whole panes of glass themselves are usually my biggest inspiration. I can dream up what I can make whenever I find a magical color and pattern of glass. Creating a magical fairy piece for the show came naturally with the iridescent glass I had, and I love to honor the moon in celestial inspired suncatchers.
- When did you know you were an artist?
I have been creating in some form or another for as long as I can remember. I am an avid baker (cupcakes are my specialty), greeting card maker, and violinist. I dabble with my sewing machine and macrame art, and am an amateur woodworker. Two summers ago I restored a vintage Shasta Starflyte camper trailer from the 1970’s. I have a bachelor’s in English, but I think if I could do it all over I would have pursued an art degree. I recently made a few custom glass pieces for one of my elementary school art teachers, and it felt so special creating pieces for someone that totally influenced my aspiring artistic self.
- Le Fae is about all things magical fairy! Tell us about why you applied to the show and what inspired the work you made for the curated collection?
I am so inspired by the natural world, and love creating both realistic and whimsical pieces. Part of my job every day is to get people excited about being outdoors, and equally important to me is bringing the outdoors inside. I have an ever growing houseplant collection and creating glass accents for their pots and nature inspired designs is a large part of what I create.
- Where did you hear about Bubble Pop Gallery and what made you want to be in the show?
I heard about Bubble Pop from the Isle of Magic Marketplace on Instagram and was very excited to apply. I feel like virtual experiences have become even more special during these difficult Covid times, and was really looking forward to the sense of community that participating could provide. It has been really wonderful connecting with other artists and especially other bad ass ladies!
- Have you ever done a gallery show before? If yes, how many?
I have never taken part in a gallery before.
- What is your favorite thing about being a creative?
Glass art has been an absolute gift to me over the past year. It helped me cope with a huge loss and gave me hope that I can still find beauty in the world.
- Where are you located?
I moved to California about three years ago, and by far my favorite thing about living here is the diverse wildlife and landscapes in this state. Specifically, it is almost wildflower season again! And I have been collecting glass and coming up with ideas on how to create some of my favorite flowers in glass all winter long.
- Where can people find you?
I would love to keep connecting on Instagram and you can find me @thequeenofdreamsshop, and my Etsy store, The Queen of Dreams: www.etsy.com/shop/TheQueenofDreams.
- Anything else you would like to share?
Thank you so much and I hope my Fairy Moon has brought a little bit of magic to your day!
